Indian Society of Ergonomics (ISE) has started a series of conferences on the theme of "Humanizing Work and Work Environment" (HWWE), aimed at developing a common platform for exchange of ideas concerning improvement in work and work environment towards alleviating health and safety of persons at work.

The first HWWE2001 was held with national and international participation at IIT Bombay in 2001. The second, HWWE2004 was at National Institute of Training in Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai. The third HWWE2005 was held in IIT Guwahati, from December 10, 2005 to December 12, 2005. The fourth HWWE2007 was held in the Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal from December 10 to 12, 2007. The fifth HWWE2008 was held at VIT, Pune,India, between 22nd to 24th of December 2008. The sixth HWWE2009 was held at Dept. of Physiology, University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India, between 17th to 19th December 2009.

The next HWWE2010 would be held at IIT Madras, Chennai, India (Date to be announced).
